Field Day 2012
A very enjoyable event thanks to the hospitatlity of Lyns G0AZE.
Friday was setup day. The most difficult of tasks was to sort the poles out for the awning. The antics would have made a good video for Youtube or candid camera. At the end of 2 hours team work won over. The erection of the antenna was the easy part hi hi.
The contest ran from 14:00 Saturday to 14:00 Sunday.

Broadsword Calling Danny Boy....
Once more into the field of dipoles drove the five
ops...(to set up).
Apart from the CAT lead deciding to randomly part company with our FT1000mp everything went to plan with only Shergar and Red Rum chasing one of
the Junior Ops (me) round the field when it was home time. We did need a little manual intervention to correct Sooper Dooper so that it had the correct band allocated rather than the last band when the CAT lead was connected. Our 45' AGL 132' doublet worked bonza with a fantastic take-off from G0AZE's field.
Unfortunately due to the Olympics (yes, really) and some mis-timed holidays, a couple of our more senior (mature?) ops couldn't make it this year (our quartermaster, M0JWB and honorary club member and social hand grenade G4CXQ). Our Club has a more mañana school of operating, and therefore the highlight of the weekend for some was the home-made lasagna washed down with a couple of cheeky bottles of Cotes du Rhone - what's not to like?
The first hour was pretty frantic (mainly because we had to give Sooper Dooper, CPR), with things settling down for the next 3 hours. After giving the Chef a 5 and 9 for the food at tea time, we battled on redundant; all weekend we kept bumping into a chap from Namibia on10m - how often do you get that? We threw in the towel at 21:15 (lightweights huh?) and resumed exactly 12 hours later to tales of "..I couldn't sleep last night; me backs killing me" and "I'm bloody cold" - it
sounded like we should be on 80m.....
Most of our happy hunting ground was on 40 & 20 with 80 being about as popular Bob Diamond at a Bank of England party.Everything was cleared away by our 'Top Men in the Field' put-away squad in around 15 minutes, and we all headed home.
